Statement of Faith

The beliefs Uplift is built on, and the foundation beneath every devotional, prayer, and answer in the app.

  1. Scripture

At Uplift we believe the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, and the final authority for faith, belief, and conduct.

Neither human wisdom, cultural consensus, denominational tradition, nor technology holds authority equal to or above Scripture.

  2. God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each fully God and united in one divine nature.

  3. Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died voluntarily on the cross as our substitute and atoning sacrifice for sin, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where He intercedes for His people, and will return personally, visibly, and bodily to judge the living and the dead.

  4. Humanity and sin

We believe every human being is created in the image of God and therefore possesses inherent dignity and worth. Through Adam’s rebellion against God, sin entered the world, leaving humanity alienated from God and in need of redemption and spiritual renewal.

  5. Salvation

We believe salvation is entirely a gift of God’s grace, not earned in whole or in part by human effort, goodness, or religious practice. It is received through faith in Jesus Christ alone and His finished work.

  6. The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, gives new life, indwells believers, transforms them, and empowers them to live faithfully in obedience to God. His presence in believers seals them as God’s own and is God’s guarantee of their promised inheritance in Christ.

  7. The Church

We believe in the universal Church, the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the Head, made up of all who have placed their faith in Him. Believers are called to gather together for worship, the teaching of Scripture, prayer, fellowship, and mutual encouragement.

  8. Resurrection and eternal life

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people and in eternal life with God for those who belong to Christ.

  9. The Christian life

We believe followers of Jesus are called to love God, love others, proclaim the gospel, make disciples of all nations, seek truth, and live faithfully according to God’s Word.

Secondary matters

We recognize that faithful Christians may reach different conclusions on secondary theological matters. In those areas, we seek humility, charity, and freedom of conviction, while encouraging every believer to study Scripture faithfully for themselves. We acknowledge the major orthodox interpretations of disputed matters and may conclude that a particular view is more consistent with Scripture, while recognizing that faithful Christians may reach a different conclusion. No teacher, tradition, denomination, or individual interpretation is authoritative in itself; all teaching and interpretation must be tested against the Word of God and remain subject to the authority of Scripture.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
Psalm 23:1
